Right now I’m clinching my teeth so freakin’ hard that I’m going to be making some dentist rich real quick .. I’m am also so outraged and so fucking torqued that I wish I had a video camera so I can just get out everything that’s in my head right now instead of having to type so damn fast and worry about spelling things wrong.

Because OH MY FUCKING HAIRY TOES people.. if you can’t SEE how racism is being used as a smoke screen then.. well.. omg.. I don’t know what to say.

Everybody knows that the best defense is a good offense.. and right now, with more and more American’s realizing that what is going on in this country is not right.. that our freedoms are slowly being removed.. that there are those in government who don’t think that you are incapable of running your own life without their help.. the people in power now are scrambling.

We are NOT sheep.. and now that they’re getting the idea :: Hello New Jersey.. Hello Utah.. Hello Northern Georgia.. Hello Nevada :: they’re doing their best to undermine an organization that’s sole purpose is to restore America to the great country that it was.

And their doing that by insisting that EVERYONE who does not agree with President Obama is a racist.

They’re insisting that EVERYONE who does agree with socialism and marxism and communism are racists.

They KNOW that waving the Racism Flag is going to incite. They KNOW it’s going to divide. And isn’t that another strategy of war?  Divide and conquer??

What’s the best way of negating a thought.. or an organization.. or ANYTHING that is going to undermine your grand master plan? Cry racism.

rac·ism [rey-siz-uhm]

1.a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one’s own race is superior and has the right to rule others.

2.a policy, system of government, etc., based upon or fostering such a doctrine; discrimination.

3.hatred or intolerance of another race or other races.

So before some one cries foul that because I’m white :: actually, I’m Italian :: and don’t understand racism then think again.

Now.. let’s get to Shirley Sherrod.

Shirely Sherrod was a USDA Rural Director in Georgia. A video tape was released of her giving a speech at the NAACP 20th Annual Freedom Fund Banquet. In this video, she says that she didn’t help a white farmer as much as she could of. In case you didn’t see the video, here it is..

So this video comes out and Shirley Sherrod is called by Cheryl Cook, the USDA’s under secretary and told that the White House wanted her to resign.. and then she was called back and told to submit her resignation via Blackberry.

So then what happens is that the NAACP .. who’s event she was speaking at.. calls out their spin doctors and release a statement saying SEE! SEE! WE don’t tolerate racism like those TEA PARTIERS do!!.

Actually this is what NAACP President Benjamin Todd Jealous said:

“According to her remarks, she mistreated a white farmer in need of assistance because of his race,” he said in a statement before Sherrod’s explanation.

“We are appalled by her actions, just as we are with abuses of power against farmers of color and female farmers.”
– New York Daily News Article

So now here’s the NAACP who has been doing everything they can to say that Tea Partiers are racist and that there was an incident where racial slurs where thrown at black politicians :: which, btw, has yet to be authentically proven even WITH a personal offer of $100,000.00 by Andrew Breigtbart for video OR audio :: and then this video surfaces and the powers that be scramble and push Shirley off the curb.

The thing is.. THAT isn’t the entire video.

Shirley herself has said in numerous interviews that what didn’t get shown was the rest of her speech where she says :: I’ll paraphrase here :: that she was speaking on something that had happened like 20 years ago and that she had an epiphany and realized that it wasn’t about black or white.. it was about the “haves” and “have nots” and that what she was doing to the white farmer wasn’t right.

Even Glenn Beck said that what happened to her was unfair and that he would do everything he could to help her get her job back.

I’m sure that doesn’t mean much to those who despise Beck but you have to admit that that’s a semi big thing.

Anyway.. so what happens tonight?

The NAACP :: remember, they’re the ones who issued a statement that they supported her resignation and had a zero tolerance policy :: posts a THE FULL VIDEO on YouTube saying that the initial video was edited to cast her in a negative light.

Here’s the full video:

So let’s all be the intelligent people that I know we are and ask a simple question..

If Shirley Sherrod was speaking at an NAACP event .. then WHY would they be sooo quick to force her to resign without thinking “.. wait a minute? This is OUR event? Don’t WE have video of it? Let’s take a look first before we jump the shark.”

The simple answer to that question is that it was a knee jerk response to a rock being thrown at their glass house.

So now what’s their statement? They’re saying that they had the wool pulled over their eyes by Fox News and Andrew Breitbart.

Breitbart has said that he received the video from someone in Georgia back in April but did nothing with it until this mess started with Tea Party being hailed as racists. He said that he repeatedly appealed to the NAACP to knock it off and that their negative branding was going to divide the country and when they didn’t back off, he released the tape.

So I really don’t think there was any hood-winking.. but that’s just my opinion.

The other thing is.. and you know.. we’ll go back to those who don’t think I have a right to know what I’m talking about because I’m not black… if you don’t want to accept if from me. .then maybe.. JUST MAYBE.. you’ll accept it from Mary Frances Berry.

Dr. Mary Frances BerryIf you don’t know who Dr. Berry is, she is the former chair on the US Commission on Civil Rights (under Carter and Clinton.. so no GOP dame here).

She now teaches law and history at the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Berry has authored both “My Face Is Black Is True” and “And Justice For All: The United States Commission on Civil Rights and The Continuing Struggle For Freedom In America”

I think she’s in a way better position to be heeded then I am..

She had this to say to Politico:

Tainting the tea party movement with the charge of racism is proving to be an effective strategy for Democrats. There is no evidence that tea party adherents are any more racist than other Republicans, and indeed many other Americans. But getting them to spend their time purging their ranks and having candidates distance themselves should help Democrats win in November. Having one’s opponent rebut charges of racism is far better than discussing joblessness.

And she’s right.. it all goes back to smoke and mirrors. On both sides.

You may or may not know this about me but I’m very into politics .. I was before the current administration. In fact, I first became politically minded back when I had my first real job and someone very wise told me that I’d better start paying attention.

And I have. Intently.

And I have very strong views.

And I don’t generally talk about it because I have a lot of other things to do then waste my time trying to have an intelligent conversation with people who only repeat what they hear but don’t really understand it.. or have put the time in to understand it.

To flip it, it would be like me trying to have a conversation about brain surgery with a brain surgeon. Yknow what I’m saying?

And I WOULD have the conversation but it generally goes down the path of the other person spitting out nonsense and then getting all huffy and puffy when I challenge them on their view. Then I just want to pop them over the head with a water balloon.

I’m all about debate. I’m open minded enough to actually listen and consider an opposing point of view.. but what gets me is when people of differing views mock mine.. or belittle them.. brand me as an idiot or worse yet, consider me a sheep in the herd.

Because let me tell you something.. you won’t get my Italian up any faster then if you label me a sheep.. or kool-aid drinker.. or mindless follower.

Especially when they refuse to consider the larger picture and are just riding the high of having a black president. It especially torques my ass when I’m labeled a racist because I don’t like the current administration.

Come on .. isn’t that a little grade school?

Wasn’t it Hilary Clinton who said that we had every right as Americans to question ANY administration?? Just not this one, right? Ok.. gotcha.

I am a student of American history .. I am a student of the founding father’s and their documents.. and I’ll tell you what, my views were firmly etched WAY before Glenn Beck so you can take that kool-aid comment and stick it in your own IV bag because really.. who’s the one who’s being duped?

Ok.. now I’m sounding bitchy and I don’t really want to go there.

So here’s the thing..  and I’m only going to say this once and then I’m done.. everything that this adminstration is doing is wrong. From forcing people to buy healthcare :: love that the IRS will with hold your tax refund if you don’t jump on board.. that’s like me telling you that the only place you can buy lunch meat is at my store :: to bailing out banks and car manufacturers. This country is so deeply in debt :: click here :: .. with the payback being held squarely on the shoulders of the people who still have their jobs. Or people like me.. with small business’ that won’t survive the new tax laws next year.

If you get this feeling in your gut that something is wrong.. then it probably is. Like Judge Judy says .. if it doesn’t make sense then it isn’t true. Or something like that.

But if your perfectly fine being in la-la land.. then you just go along living in your purple haze and enjoy your life.

For now. Because your life as well as mine is going to be interrupted in a big way and when that time comes I promise I won’t be waving the I Told You So banner.

Just a side note because I can’t help myself:

Until I was laid off, I spend the good portion of 25 years in the health care industry .. both on the insurance side and the hospital side and I can tell you as sure as I’m typing this that everything you’ve been fed about insurance and lack thereof is bullshit.

Does insurance have to be reformed? Yes.

Is this the way to do it? HELL NO.

My last piece of advise before I go to the bathroom is this:

Educate yourself. Don’t listen to one side or the other.. you have a wealth of information at your fingertips so get off of Facebook an use it. Realize that everything has a bigger picture and that a person’s views are established by their influences and associations.

In 25 days a small community hospital that has been operated by a major health system for the past 10 years or so will close.

Supposedly it was a swift business decision deemed necessary to save the health system, which reportedly is 16 million over the budged loss for last fiscal year.

Or was it? I have my doubts. My gut tells me differently :: and as it’s ever expanding so is my ever expanding insight!! Ha! :: No. Seroiusly. The thing about the suits that sit on the top floors making these decisions is that they really, honestly and truly think that the people who work on the floors under them are stupid.

I’m not going to get into all the specifics because that’s not really what this post is about.. but for someone who spent many an hour putting 5000 piece puzzle pieces together I’m going to tell you that closing this hospital was in the works for a long time.

So 850 people are out of jobs come the end of the month. Alot of people. Alot of people that I know personally. Because that’s the kind of place this hospital was.

It was a “community” hospital in the truest sense of the word. Everyone in the neighborhood was either born there or worked there or wound up doing both. Generations of families were born there and died there.

Nothing was cold.. nothing sterile :: figuratively speaking you guys! Sheesh! :: Upper managment.. the CEO’s the CFO’s took the time to know you.. not just your name and / or position. Get to know YOU. We had a baseball team that was employee funded :: with help from managment :: .. we had a golf team that was employee funded :: with help from management ::. Everyone truly worked hard to make this hospital one where you and your family were cared from from the minute you walked in until the minute you left.

People went above and beyond because they WANTED to.. not because it was expected. There was constantly something being done for someone in the community.. bake sale.. 50/50 raffle.. it was endless.

But then the powers that be decided that there should be one corporate hub and my department was moved into the corporate office. The people were different.. their work ethics were different :: dare I say “non-existant” :: and as much as they wanted to convey the TEAM mentality, people from my hospital were segregated.. left out..

Our hospitals’ work :: which should have been even distributed and worked on by the entire staff :: collected dust because no one wanted to bother learning our system.

Consequently, the hospital started to lose the revenue much needed by the health system and therein laid the path to closing it’s doors.

The corporate office IS doing something.. they’re turning it into an outpatient care facility but they still deemed it necessary to give everyone a pink slip and offered to rehire anyone if they needed.

The neighborhood and local council tried saving it but to no avail. I’m not sure how much of this was known by people of some power before it actually happened since an internet search turned up an organization formed to save the hospital roughly a year before it acutally happened.

Even worse is that fact that about 6 years ago, the health system reached out to the community to help them fight a land development deal by WalMart for the property across the street from the hospital. The community acted and the deal fell through. This is how they repay them.

But all that really doesn’t matter because in 25 days, it’s doors will close.

I have really spent any quality time in there for about 2 years but I still keep in touch with the friends I made there :: thank God for Facebook! :: but let me tell you.. she was a grand old dame.

And it’s sad. It’s more then said.
