… so yesterday, I read something that DatGurl posted on her blog and got my girly things all in a twist when I kept reading about how all this is being driven by racism.

I got so torqued that I left a comment without giving myself enough time to breath and formulate the point I really wanted to get across. So y’all are the lucky ones that get to read this!! LOL!!

So let’s agree on a few things first.

There is an out of control problem with people crossing the border illegally According to which side you consider truth, there are somewhere between 13 and 20 MILLION people here and they ain’t suppose to be.

Breaking the law is illegal, right? Therefore, they are ILLEGALS.

The supreme ruled that any person on United States soil is afforded the same rights and United States citizens and therefore are given welfare and food stamps and the such.

Ok. So why is everyone screaming racism? Because they are from Mexico? Would the racism flag be waving if the French Canadians were swimming across in droves? I don’t think so.

People… if you’re one of the ones waving that flag then you are being played.

My daddy always used to tell me that if you want to catch the big fish you have to go deep. So let’s go deep. Let’s go all the way to the bottom of the pond and really figure out who is indeed, being racist. The people wanting to keep them OUT or the people wanting to keep them IN?

In fact, I’m really going to be controversial here and replace the word racism with SLAVERY.

Ask yourself this?

Who employs these people? Why do they want to employ them?

Business’ employing illegals know that they can get away with paying next to nothing. Is that fair to the person working the fields all day? Is it fair that they have to be treated like sub-humans because their illegal status is being exploited for profit? These people have to do what they have to do to provide for who they have to provide for at the mercy of the company throwing them a bone.

Go ahead and tell me that’s not wrong!

Those that are here for noble reasons ( wanting a better life ) are being enslaved. There is no denying that. But they are also draining resources .. along with every other person who receives welfare and shouldn’t.. This country cannot.. repeat.. CANNOT sustain the blind shelling out of money. There’s nothing left on the teet to suckle.

So where do we go from here?

First of all, the migrant farm workers? Put them on a 6 month visa. Let them come in.. work.. BUT THEN GO HOME. Come and go and much as you want but if you come in.. you gotta go back. This country isn’t a roach motel.

Companies that hire illegals should be heavily fined or levied for hiring them in the first place but if they are documented, then there should be standardized pay and have their wages taxes like every other American. If you can be afforded the rights of citizens per the Supreme Court, then your afforded the good AND the bad.

It isn’t feasible to send all the illegals back to where they came from but how about if we give them 3 months to leave on their own.. if not, well.. then we’ll do what other countries do to the people who sneak in to THEIR country.

Change the citizenship process. It’s antiquated and run by a bunch of idiots. If you’re a documented worker then you should be able to be fast tracked.

I may be right.. or I may be wrong.. but one thing I’m certain of.. this out of control problem CAN be rectified as long as it’s being worked on by people who have no special interests or political affiliations or aspirations.

Ok. I’m done being controversial. I’m going to watch the Real Housewives Of New Jersey now!!

You probably noticed that I’ve been playing around with my blog themes.

The thing one does when stuck on their bed because there’s a mouse in their bedroom!

Anyway.. I found this widget called Social Vibe and one of the things you can do is have your readers click on it and the sponsor will donate something to your cause.

My cause happens to be animal abuse.. and the sponsor will donate food to help animals that have been really let down by the human race.

I know Breast Cancer is an important cause.. I know Autism is an important cause.. I know that everyone who has a magnet ribbon on their car or a rubber bracelet on their wrist knows that their cause is important.

But so are animals.. and so is the torment these innocent souls go through because someone doesn’t value them.

I’m not going to get into a philosophical debate about animals vs. man.. or whether they have souls or not.. or go to heaven when they die. Chief tried and basically I believe they have souls and will go to heaven so we’ll just agree to let me go on thinking that.

The thing is.. it breaks my heart when I hear stories or see the evidence of abuse or neglect.

I was a lonely kid growing up and my dogs literally saved me from myself. If I didn’t have them to count on.. to help me heal.. to give me the unconditional love and loyalty that wasn’t around from people then I don’t really know where I would be.

That’s as brutal and honest as I can get.

So please.. I not asking you for anything other then a few clicks and keystrokes to do something really kind for an innocent.. neglected soul.

If you don’t.. that’s okay. We all have our things in life.. but I just thought there wouldn’t be any harm in asking!

As a member of the Cute Girl Sisterhood, I pledge to follow the Rules when wearing sandals and other open-toe shoes:

shoes

  • I promise to always wear sandals that fit. My toes will not hang over and touch the ground, nor will my heels spill over the backs. And the sides and tops of my feet will not pudge out between the straps.
  • I will go polish-free or vow to keep the polish fresh, intact and chip-free. I will not cheat and just touch up my big toe.
  • I will sand down any mounds of skin before they turn hard and yellow.
  • I will shave the hairs off my big toe.
  • I won’t wear pantyhose even if my misinformed girlfriend, coworker, mother, sister tells me the toe seam really will stay under my toes if I tuck it there.
  • If a strap breaks, I won’t duct-tape, pin, glue or tuck it back into place hoping it will stay put. I will get my shoe fixed or toss it.
  • I will not live in corn denial; rather I will lean on my good friend Dr. Scholl’s if my feet need him.
  • I will resist the urge to buy jelly shoes at Payless for the low, low price of $4.99 even if my feet are small enough to fit into the kids’ sizes. This is out of concern for my safety, and the safety of others. No one can walk properly when standing in a pool of sweat and I would hate to take someone down with me as I fall and break my ankle.
  • I will take my toe ring off toward the end of the day if my toes swell and begin to look like Vienna sausages.
  • I will be brutally honest with my girlfriend/sister/coworker when she asks me if her feet are too ugly to wear sandals. Someone has to tell her that her toes are as long as my fingers and no sandal makes creepy feet look good.
  • I will promise if I wear flip flops that I will ensure that they actually flip and flop, making the correct noise while walking and I will swear NOT to slide or drag my feet while wearing them.
  • I will promise to go to my local nail salon at least once per season and have a real pedicure (they are about $25 or $35 and worth EVERY penny).
  • I will promise to throw away any white/off-white sandals that show signs of wear… nothing is tackier than dirty white sandals..

And my personal pet peeve:

Ladies… PLEASE get rid of the sandals that have a dirty foot print left on the inside OR if they are just TOO CUTE to throw away, please DO NOT take them off around other people!!

  • Why do drugstores make the sick walk all the way to the back of the store to get their prescriptions while healthy people can buy cigarettes in the front?
  • Why do peole order double cheeseburgers, large fries and a diet coke?
  • Why do banks leave both doors open but chanin the pens to the counter?
  • Why do we leave cars worth thousands of dollars in the driveway and put our useless junk in the garage?
  • Why do hot dogs come in packages of 10 but the buns come in packages of 8?
  • Why are there drive-up ATM Machines with braille lettering?
  • Why does the sun lighten our hair but darken our skin?
  • Why can’t woman put on mascara with their mouths closed?
  • Why don’t you ever see the headline “Psychic Wins Lottery”?
  • Why is “abbreviated” such a long word?
  • Why is it that doctor’s call what they do “practice”?
  • Why is lemon juice made with artificial flavor and dishwashing liquid made with real lemons?
  • Why is the man who invests all your moeny called a broker?
  • Why is the time of day with the slowest traffice called rush horu?
  • Why isn’t there mouse flavored cat food?
  • Why didn’t Noah swat those two mosquitoes?
  • Why do they sterilize the needle for lethal injections?
  • Why aren’t airplanes made from the same material that the indestructible black box is made from?
  • Why don’t sheep shrink in the rain?
  • Why are they called “apartments” when they are all stuck together?
  • If CON is the opposite of PRO, is CONgress the opposite of PROgress?
  • If flying is so safe, why do they call the airport, the terminal?

…Sorry, but I have to weigh in on the whole Perez Hilton / Miss California debacle.

In case you have far more better things to do in life then pay attention to dribble, I’ll clue you in.

Perez Hilton, the self proclaimed “Queen Of All Media”… proudly gay.. and basically has become famous for writing a blog of celebrity gossip.

I’ll admit, I read his blog. It really doesn’t contain exclusive information :: you can find the same information on a variety of other sights :: but his posts are short and it’s fluff reading when there’s not time to actually devote brain cells to anything written.

But I’ll give him props… he took something that didn’t really require any skill or talent and is making a fortune off of it

NOTE: Heather Armstrong of dooce.com actually accomplished the same notoriety as Perez but only a WHOLE HELL of a lot better. And even though Heather just released a book and pops up tv every once in a while, I’ve been reading her for years and would recommend her blog. She’s just a chick I’d really love to hang with.

Anyway.

So Perez Hilton was one of the judges for the Miss USA crown. Now really.. gay man? beauty pageant? Am I the only one that sees the irony of it?

Anyway.

When it is Miss California’s turn to answer the required question from the judges, Perez Hilton asks her is she agrees with Proposition 8 and WHY or WHY NOT (that’s important)

So Miss Cali says that she doesn’t believe in same sex marriage. People boo.. she apologies but she doesn’t agree with it.

Of course, she didn’t win the crown AND o f course Donald Trump (who owns the pageant) couldn’t resist stirring the pot by saying that he thinks her remark cost her the crown.

There’s been alot of discussion on the talk radio program that I listen to on the drive to work about how insane it is that these woman are even asked questions about the economy, bail outs, Hilary Clinton, etc. That they should just go back to the pageants of years ago and be judged on how pretty they are and how good they look in a bathing suit.

I don’t agree with that. That school of thought is antiquated and degrading.

My concern on a grander scale is why are people :: and not just Miss California :: suffering for their opinions?

The question, as posed, ended with WHY or WHY NOT. She does agree with same sex marriage. So freakin’ what! That’s HER opinion. She was asked and she gave it and she was possibly punished for it?

The fact that it was an openly gay man who championed Prop 8 seems as though it was a set up. Unless you said, OH YES, I ABSOLUTELY AGREE then you were destinted to be a runner up.

What’s more important? Giving up your principles and core beliefs to gain ground on something or holding onto your principle and core beliefs knowing that you can lay your head down at night and sleep in peace.

I’m not the type of person that conforms. I will tell you right now that I don’t believe in same sex marriage. How I feel about homosexuality is a different story.

In fact, I’m not even going to go into my theories and beliefs because that’s fodder for another post!

The thing I’m saying is… in the world of political correctness, having an opinion that isn’t popular is a detrement.

And really, in fact, it would seem like major sour grapes on Perez’ part because after all … because apparently the populace of California does not WANT same sex marriage. It keeps coming up and voted down.

Accept it, ok?
