Ok.
So I don’t necessarily like Sci-Fi-y things.
And I don’t necessarily like Sci-Fi-y things that last about two and a half hour longs.
And I don’t necessarily like hearing about the whole 2012 theory again.. and again.. AND again.
It’s not that don’t believe it.. well, I don’t know whether I do or not.. but like I keep telling Spaz, as long as your right with your god then it doesn’t matter when the world ends
But this whole 2012 thing is getting a little out of hand. Any night of the week you can find SOME kind of documentary on it on cable.
At any rate.. the movie.
So we watched it tonight and other then the “Independence Day” level of special effects, it sucked.
Sucked so bad that I didn’t even finish watching it.
It’s the same old story..
Goofy loser dad (John Cusak) takes his kids camping only to stumble upon a wacked out under-grounder (Woody Harrelson) who tells him all about the conspiracy that the world is ending and OH! Here’s a map of secret places in CHINA that will keep you safe. Government knows ALL about it but chooses NOT to let the information out until the very last minute when California slides into the ocean.
It was just bizarre.
The only part that I found slightly entertaining :: enough to get a slight giggle :: was a few lines that the Russian billionaire uttered.
But I mean.. I guess as far as disaster movies go.. and if you’re into that kind of thing.. you wouldn’t think it sucked as bad as I did.

I’m OVER the whole 2012. Remember when 2000 hit and all the computers of the world were supposed to stop working and people were freaking out because they didn’t know what was going to happen. I mean the whole party like its 1999 mess… Unreal.. and guess what happened at 12:00… not a thing.. what happened at 12:01… fireworks? really..
My oldest kidlet came home the other day and said that the world was going to end in 2012.. I laughed at her. I didn’t mean to but it was so absurd. She’d heard it at school!!!! so now thats just another thing for a 10 year old child to worry and fear.. shaking head here!

Back in 1999, my ex (the Spawn from Satan’s Ass) SWORE that we would have to go into survival mode at the stroke of midnight so for MONTHS he squirreled away batteries and candles and trash cans filled with water..
You read that right..

Worse.. he convinced my mom of the same thing so now I had two OCD-ers hoarding canned goods.
So that New Years Eve, him and my mom keep calling each other back and forth just WAITING and I was like.. Um.. you two DO realize that it’s already 2000 IN THE REST OF THE WORLD, right??

AGGGGHHHHHH. I so wanted this to be a glowing review! I like John Cusack as an actor and was hoping this was going to be a really good film. OK I’m not giving up, yet. I will see it anyway just this once…if it sucks, I will never again question your reviews. Have a great Monday!

It may just be that I’m not really into that kind of movie. usually I’ll watch anything and really try to give it an honest review on merit but in this case, I just couldn’t get through it!
I do hope you like it though.. I mean, if you’re spending the money and all then I hope you at least get something out of it!

I don’t think the world is going to end in 2012 but I wouldn’t mind seeing the movie. It looks good but I have seen others that looked good but sucked ass.
Honestly Gary, it reminded me of Independence Day and I usually really like John Cusack as an acture (( loved him in .. what was that? 1403 or something.. the scary movie about the hotel room?? )) .. but he’s no Will Smith when it comes to big action movies!!

This is an awesome chart the debunks some of the crazy 2012 theories. I used to watch the History channel a lot until I became fed up with them because I felt they were trying to convince people the world was going to end. Which for a channel about ‘History’ is just ludicrous.

I don’t subscribe to the 2012 theories either.. I just figure it is what it is and what will happen will happen.
Everything that I’ve heard about this movie equals it’s being bad, bad and just plain bad. I love sci-fi, end of the world kind of movies….as long as they have a good story line. From what I’ve heard, this movie is about 5 minutes worth of story and the rest is destruction after destruction after destruction. I like how far we’ve come with technology in movies, but not when a movie is made just to show it off. Bleck…I’m skipping this one.
… this movie isn’t just bad.. it’s BADONG!!
And I agree.. moving along with technology is great as long as it’s not the sole excuse for the movie.
I wish I could have missed this one!
